Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe
1 cup carrots, sliced
1 each, green pepper, onion, chopped
2 tablespoon tapioca, quick-cooking
1 chicken, cut into serving-size pieces
8-oz can pineapple chunks with juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 tsp instant chicken bouillon
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon salt
Place vegetables in crock pot. Sprinkle tapioca on top. Add chicken pieces.
Combine pineapple, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, bouillon, garlic powder, ginger, and salt, and pour over chicken.
Cook, covered, on Low 8-9 hours. Serve over cooked white or wild rice.
Mild Oriental Chicken
2 small chickens, cut into serving-size pieces
2 tablespoons oil
6-oz can lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Remove skin from chicken and put in crock pot. Combine lemonade concentrate, brown sugar, ketchup, and vinegar. Pour over chicken.
Cover and cook on high 3-4 hours.
Remove chicken and pour liquid into small pan. Combine water and cornstarch and stir into hot liquid, making a sauce.
Serve chicken and sauce over cooked wild or white rice.
